Our GDL-Member Elsa Marie D’Silva participated at the W7 summit 2022, a collaboration of different civil society organizations that promote proposals on gender equality and female rights within the framework of the G7 summit.

The W7 summit concluded with the publication of a joint declaration of the W7 Communiqué and the W7 Implementation Plan. These were handed to the German Chancellor and President of the G7 at the time, Olaf Scholz with the words of Dr. Beate von Miquel, Chairwoman of the German Women’s Council: “It is high time for action, results and clear commitments from the G7 on gender equality”.

The declaration contained requests regarding gender and equality such as:

– Ensure meaningful participation and representation of women and girls in decision,
– Apply gender equality as a cross-cutting principle,
– Implement gender responsive budgeting,
– Invest in a sex and gender responsive, intersectional approach to data generation.
