Tarek Mohamed Hassan is a strategic designer focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship and social justice. He trained as a facilitator with the German UNESCO Commission and has been working in the field of organisational development, social justice and diversity since 2015.
Tarek founded the social start-up “Queer Refugees Network Leipzig” and was awarded the RAHM Global LGBTIQ+ Leadership Award 2018. He was trained in design thinking at the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut and empowers organisations such as Telekom, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Norwegian Refugee Council and others in the area of strategic innovation development.
As a partner with the consulting firm CONSTELLATIONS International, Tarek has been working in China and Germany since 2016 on the topics of start-ups and entrepreneurship for organisations such as the Berlin Senate, Stiftung Mercator and KPMG. He works part-time in the innovation management department of the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the state-owned consulting company that mainly advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. As an innovation manager at the think tank “Generation Why”, Tarek seeks to develop new formats and modes of collaboration to reach the Sustainable Development Goals using flexible approaches.
