Johnny Miller is a photographer, activist and multimedia storyteller based in Cape Town, South Africa and Detroit, USA. He is interested in exploring inequality, architecture, displacement and climate justice on the ground and from the air. He is the founder of Unequal Scenes and of africanDRONE.
Unequal Scenes is a photographic project, a platform for multimedia storytelling, and a home for creatives, activists, scientists and journalists to connect and strategise creative approaches to make the world a more healthy, fair and equitable place. Unequal Scenes aligns itself with the UN SDGs, specifically in the fight against extreme inequality, climate change and sustainable cities and communities. Johnny believes that creating strong, accessible and accurate narratives can drive mass action, which in turn can be a force for positive social change.
Johnny is a News Fellow at Code For Africa, a Senior Atlantic Fellow for Social and Economic Equity at the London School of Economics, and a UN Habitat Champion for Vibrant and Inclusive Neighbourhoods and Communities.
