Fiona has obtained her masters in International Politics and is preparing for a PhD in the field of diplomacy, peace and conflict studies.
She focuses on the interface between foreign intervention, resources and glocal solutions. Her regional focus is on the WANA region and Sub-Saharan Africa, with a current research project on Mali. It examines Mali’s foreign and defence policy shift away from France and towards Russia and the impact of this shift on the fight against terrorism in the country.
During her studies, she worked as a research assistant in the marketing department of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne, completed an internship in the cultural department of the Goethe Institute Toulouse, and was a board member of the German party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Cologne Rodenkirchen. Furthermore, she is an active member of the United Nations Association of Germany in the field of peacekeeping.
