Annika Bächle

During her Master’s programme in International Relations in Berlin, Annika has specialised in postcolonial and feminist perspectives on global issues. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies with a major in Social Science and a minor in Law. Since her first semester, Annika has been a scholar of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.

In 2019, Annika joined the working Group “Future Migration: A Force for Global Development?” at the summer school at University of Cambridge. Annika also worked as an intern at the Representation of Lower Saxony to the European Union in Brussels.

Several stays in South Africa as a volunteer, as student at Nelson Mandela University, and as researcher have deepened and shaped Annika’s awareness of postcolonial issues.

As a mother to her Xhosa-German daughter, Annika embraces the international lifestyle and is grateful for every new adventure that awaits them.

Joining GDL in August 2023 as an intern of the German Federal Foreign Office, Annika is excited to contribute to projects aiming to achieve more inclusive diplomacy.
